Christmas Themed Videogames – LIST THIS!

Christmas Themed Videogames: Shenmue

Christmas Themed Videogames: Not sure if it’s all for spreading cheer or cashing in for the holidays

Ho ho ho! The Holidays are here once again and our site will list to YOU some Christmas Themed Videogames to add more to the Christmas spirit.

Christmas-Themed-Videogames-Elf-Bowling

Elf Bowling (PC) – You read that right: “elf bowling”. This game also had a series of its own. Started in 1998, the Elf Bowling series was a PC game which involves Santa bowling and using some of his elves as bowling pins. Pretty standard right? Except, it wasn’t just your normal bowling game. These elves also have some nasty tricks up their sleeves so that Santa may not get a perfect strike.

Christmas-Themed-Videogames-DeathSmilesII-Satan-Claws

DeathSmiles II (X-Box360) – The sequel to DeathSmiles (which had a Halloween setting) is one of the newer videogames that puts on a Christmas Themed stamp on its product. This Japanese created videogame is a horizontal side scrolling shooter jampacked with explosions, lasers, and…CHIRSTMASY STUFF! Hell, the main boss/villain of this game is called ‘Stan Claws’…how punny could one get?

Christmas-Themed-Videogames-Christmas-Into-Nights

Christmas Nights into Dreams (Sega Saturn and PS2) – This was actually a bonus CD for the Sega Saturn back in X-Mas season 1996. Back when companies actually give a bonus/promo CD away for free, this was one X-Mas treat for gamers back in the 90s. A decade or so later, this Christmas version of Nights was ported to the PS2 as part of the re-release of Nights into Dreams.

Christmas-Themed-Videogames-The-Grinch

The Grinch who Stole Christmas (PS1/Dreamcast/PC/GBC/Nintendo DS) – Based on the Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch movie adaptation comes this video game adaptation in the year 2000 (adaptception~!). The game involved you as the ginrch (or his dog max) running around an area to stomp/ruin some x-mas gifts to having a ‘rotten egg launcher’ to spread some stench for the holidays This game was so awesome (-ly MEH!) that it had a remake on the DS which had a little MGS twist to it. Imagine the Grinch looting presents while avoiding sleep walking whovians…or something. Just check out the youtube vids and you’ll see what I mean. To its credit, the DS remake was actually…ok.

Christmas-Themed-Videogames-Santa-Claus-is-Coming-to-Town

Santa Claus is Coming to Town (Wii) – Here’s a videogame that’s like Sonic the hedgehog wherein you replace the hedgehog with Kris Kringle and the power rings with snowflakes. Each level of the game requires you to collect enough snowflakes, send some x-mas presents to the kids and bring Kris Kringle at the end of the map and reach his flag pole. (Shut up Takei!). It’s a pretty nice game for kids in the Christmas season, we have to admit that. Not the greatest game, but hey, it’s a nice gift for your kids.

Christmas-Themed-Videogames-Santas-Rampage

Santa’s Rampage (PC) – Remember that song ‘The Night Santa Went Crazy’ by Weird Al? That might be the unofficial theme song for this game’s intro. Don’t let the title mislead you. This won’t let you do the killing. In fact, it’s the complete opposite: you clean up Santa’s mess. It’s a very interesting/funny concept and it’s enough to work as a hit videogame I guess.

Honorable Mentions: Home Alone 1 and 2 (just because it’s set in Christmas and has a Christmas Tree in the first game…), Die Hard Trilogy (yay, another movie game!), All the Christmas-Themed DLCs of games like Minecraft, Saints Row IV, Borderlands 2, etc.

Now that the list is done, we here would like to thank you for reading and we’d like to greet you a very Merry Christmas! 😀
